1. Loose-Fill & Batt Removal:

• Loose-Fill & Batt Removal: The existing loose-fill and batt insulation were removed to prepare for the new insulation installation.

2. Air Seal Attic Floor:

• Air sealing was performed to prevent air leaks, ensuring maximum efficiency of the new insulation.

3. Install Baffles:

• Baffles were installed to ensure proper ventilation and airflow within the attic.

4. Attic Insulation R-60:

• New insulation with an R-60 rating was installed to significantly improve thermal resistance and energy efficiency.

5. Create 10x5 ft Opening:

• A 10x5 ft opening was created through the old roof structure to access the closed attic space, facilitating the installation process.

6. Can Light Covers:

• 40 can light covers were installed to enhance insulation around the light fixtures.

7. Attic Hatch Solutions:

• Two attic hatches were installed with weatherstripping to prevent air leakage and ensure easy access to the attic.

Results:

Upon completion of the project, Nick’s home experienced a marked improvement in energy efficiency, comfort, and reduced energy costs. The new R-60 insulation, combined with the air sealing and baffles, created a more consistent indoor temperature, mitigating the previously common hot and cold spots. The added can light covers and attic hatches with weatherstripping further ensured that there were no gaps in the insulation coverage, leading to optimized energy usage.
